At Sasanokawa Shuzo special attention is paid to the quality of the koji. This is why, in 1994, they built a special room in the brewery that would allow them to produce their own koji. Other than sake, the brewery makes also shochu, liqueurs, and whisky—being the oldest whisky distillery in the North-Eastern part of Japan.
